Electric Fencing 101

A fence serves as a strong physical barrier, but in some cases it has been proved insufficient to deter a human intruder or an animal if they are determined enough. This gave rise to the development of electric fencing. What electric fencing does is try to create a psychological barrier along with the physical one. In earlier days, an energizer unit would just send high voltage electric impulses all around the electric fence. Anybody who touches the fence would get a high voltage but safe shock. Even such an arrangement started to fail deterring willful intruders after some time. This gave rise to the need of monitoring the fence voltage as well. Today, Energizers are build with a host of features like monitoring the fence voltage, setting of alarms, low power/high power modes, interfacing with PC, internet, mobile and more. Addition of electric fence along with the existing fence or wall has proved to be a highly efficient perimeter security solution.
